India's cancer-stricken all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has promised he will fight his disease and make a successful return to international cricket.
The 30-year-old is responding well to chemotherapy in the United States after a malignant tumour was found between his lungs, but the World Cup-winner insists the condition will only make him stronger and he is already thinking about making a return to cricket.
"I have immense faith in the doctors here and by the grace of God I shall be back to my best soon," Yuvraj told the Times of India.
"I am on medication and doctors have time and again told me that I am responding well and that I would be back playing cricket. I am a fighter and I will return stronger than ever."
Yuvraj says he initially had mixed emotions about the disease, but has now come to terms with it and admitted he is drawing inspiration from cyclist Lance Armstrong who also beat cancer before going on to win seven Tour de France titles.
"Initially, I was angry and confused. I was even repentant and kept thinking I could have done some things in life differently," added Yuvraj.
"However, I have a counsellor here who has helped me get over the initial shock of learning that I am suffering from cancer. I have come to terms with it now.
"I am currently reading Lance Armstrong's book 'It's Not About The Bike'. I'm sure the book will motivate me and pull me through this difficult time."

Yuvraj is a fighter, and he has given all of us the joys of watching him in full flight in the ODI's and 20/20s. Who can forget him smashing Stuart Broad for 6 sixes in the over. If you saw Broad's face at that time, he was in total shock, and I am sure he will never forget that feeling. Yuvraj, rest assured, all cricket fans around the world are praying for you to make a speedy recovery, and come back to cricket where you belong. I am sure you will beat this thing, so my best wishes along with millions of others is with you. GET WELL SOON.
