Following England's emphatic 130-run win over Pakistan in the first ODI in Abu Dhabi on Monday, captain Alastair Cook has called on his team to keep up the winning momentum.

The opener led the side with a superb 137 to boost England to 260 for seven while Pakistan could only manage 130 in reply. It was a first win on the tour for England who were trounced three-nil in the Test series.

"It's been a hard tour. It's been frustrating that we haven't played up to our potential and today we showed what good players we have in our team. It's only the first game of the series but it's great to get off to a winning start," said Cook.

"It was a really good day for us. We got a really good score on the board and then Steven Finn and the (other) bowlers made it very hard for Pakistan to chase that down.

"We'll rest up well tomorrow and hopefully come back and put in another good performance."

Despite his own Man of the Match performance, the modest Cook played down his batting and instead praised the contributions of Ravi Bopara (50) and Steven Finn (four for 34).

"I thought the way Ravi played, especially (was impressive)," Cook added.

"To come in when we had lost two quick wickets, it was a really good knock and he took the pressure off me. I just tried to bat as long as I could.

"Finny put a great new-ball spell in there and put them right on the back foot, backed up by Jimmy (James Anderson) and Broady (Stuart Broad) as well.

"It was a really good team performance, we'll take a lot of positives from it. We can always improve, but we'll enjoy tonight."
