After coming in at number three during the third ODI against Pakistan, England batsman Eoin Morgan has revealed he has been ready to bat up the order throughout the entire series.

The left-hander insisted that the plan in the England camp is for him to come in at first-drop, but only if Alastair Cook is the first opener to lose his wicket. Since the captain has been in sublime form, hitting two centuries in the first two matches and 80 in the third, Morgan has had to wait for his chance in the middle order as usual.

"I've had my pads on to bat at three for the first three ODIs because we like the right-hand/left-hand combination, especially when there are two spinners on," said Morgan.

"It's been the same throughout the series. It's just been that Cook has been in unbelievable form and I haven't got a bat. The fact we've got off to good starts has helped. I come in and move it on. My strengths come into play and that's where we use it."

The Irish-born player has endured a tough tour of the United Arab Emirates and was starved for runs throughout the Test series whitewash, when he scored just 82 runs at an average of 13. However, the 25-year-old was adamant that he does not fear losing his place in the side.

"I don't worry about my Test place. I always put myself under a lot of pressure, particularly in the longer format of the game. But I haven't scored enough runs to justify being number one in the side. The pressure I put myself under is enough," he added.

"It's been hard work. The Test series was very tricky. The skills levels on our behalf - and mine as well - weren't up to scratch. We struggled."
