- Test debut v New Zealand at Auckland - March 2001

- ODI debut v Sri Lanka at Sharjah - April 2001

- Made a massive initial impression taking eight wickets for 106 against New Zealand in his debut Test Match in 2000-01.

- He followed this up by taking a hat-trick against Sri Lanka in the Asian Test Championship final at Lahore in March 2002.

- A devastating spell of bowling against New Zealand at Lahore saw him take four wickets in an over to lead Pakistan to victory in the second One Day International in late 2003.
