Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Mahela Jayawardene and Dale Steyn may well be in for a fruitful time in Dubai on Wednesday.
Each player is nominated in both the Cricketer of the Year and Test Player of the Year categories in the LG ICC Awards 2008.
The other nominee for the Cricketer of the Year prize is Graeme Smith, while Jacques Kallis is a further nominee in the Test category.
Players who have secured the game's premier individual honour in past years are Rahul Dravid (2004), Andrew Flintoff and Kallis (joint winners in 2005) and Ricky Ponting (2006 and 2007).
Mahendra Dhoni is another player in the running for accolades aplenty come Wednesday's prestigious event.
Dhoni, who led India to glory at the World Twenty20 in September 2007, is nominated for two prizes - the ODI Player of the Year and the Twenty20 International Performance of the Year.
Also in with a shout are Sachin Tendulkar (ODI Player of the Year), Ishant Sharma (Emerging Player of the Year) and Yuvraj Singh (Twenty20 International Performance of the Year).
Sharma faces stiff competition in the Emerging Player of the Year category, with Ajantha Mendis, Stuart Broad and Morne Morkel all in contention for the award.
Twenty20 International Performance of the Year contenders Dhoni and Yuvraj are up against Chris Gayle and Brett Lee.
Simon Taufel has a chance of an unequalled five Umpire of the Year awards on the trot, with Mark Benson, Aleem Dar, Steve Davis and Rudi Koertzen Taufel's competition.
"The LG ICC Awards are a celebration and acknowledgement of the best cricketing performances the world has seen over the past 12 months or so," director of marketing at LG Electronics India Ltd V. Ramchandran enthused. "The LG brand also stands for the highest level of performance and therefore LG is very proud to be involved in celebrating such a prestigious occasion."
